Nidec to form joint venture with Brazil's Embraer to make flying car parts

Japanese company Nidec has announced that it will be collaborating with Brazilian firm Embraer to establish a new enterprise in the United States, focused on producing components for air taxis.

The joint venture, named Nidec Aerospace, will leverage the existing factories of both firms in Mexico and Brazil, with its headquarters to be based in St Louis. Nidec will hold a 51% stake in the enterprise, while Embraer will own the remaining 49%.

The companies did not disclose the amount of capital involved in the project, although a Nikkei Shimbun report estimated that around JPY 20 billion ($141.02 million) would be invested in research and development over the next five years.
