US oil futures unchanged as API inventory shows unexpected draw in crude stocks

U.S. crude oil futures were little changed post-settlement levels Tuesday even as the American Petroleum Institute showed an unexpected draw in U.S. weekly crude supplies.

Crude Oil WTI Futures, the U.S. benchmark, recently traded at $58.62 a barrel following the report after settling up 1.2% at $58.64 barrel.

U.S. crude inventories decreased by about 2.48M barrels for the week ended Nov. 28, smaller than expectations for a build of about 1.9M barrels.

Gasoline stockpiles increased by about 3.2M barrels, while distillate inventories -- the class of fuels that includes diesel and heating oil -- rose by about 2.88M barrels.

The official government inventory report is due Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. ET (1430 GMT).
