Japan calls on the United States to reduce tariffs on cars

Japanese Economy Minister and chief trade negotiator, Ryoushi Akazawa, made important statements on Wednesday, ahead of his anticipated visit to the United States for delicate trade negotiations regarding the reduction of mutual tariffs on automobiles. This visit comes as Japan seeks to expand trade cooperation with the United States and alleviate customs restrictions affecting Japanese automobile exports.

The Japanese official indicated that his country would demand that the United States issue an urgent executive order to reduce the customs restrictions imposed on Japanese cars, representing a critical step in enhancing trade exchange between the two countries.

Japan's visit to the United States is scheduled to begin on Thursday, where Akazawa will hold intensive meetings with American officials to discuss the reduction of mutual tariffs on automobiles.

These Japanese moves come at a sensitive time when the international automobile market is experiencing tension due to customs restrictions, as tariffs impact car prices, sales, and the ability of Japanese companies to compete in the American market. Through Akazawa's visit, Japan aims to ensure a continued flow of automobile exports to the United States without obstacles, while enhancing the interests of Japanese industries and achieving a trade balance between the two countries.

The visit is expected to carry clear messages to the American side, reaffirming Japan's desire to reach quick and effective solutions to reduce tariffs. This step would enhance long-term economic cooperation between Japan and the United States and open the door for further trade exchange between the two countries.
