In an exciting speech delivered by U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance during the "Bitcoin 2025" conference in Las Vegas, he announced that the Trump administration will restore confidence in the cryptocurrency market, emphasizing that the era in which digital assets were targeted by regulatory authorities has officially ended.
Vance said amid a large reaction from the audience: "There is a new sheriff in town," a metaphorical expression indicating a radical shift in the White House's policy towards cryptocurrencies, after years of what he described as "hostility" during the previous Democratic administration.
Vance also directly attacked Gary Gensler, the former chair of the Securities and Exchange Commission, describing his campaign against cryptocurrency companies as a real disaster, adding: "We’ve kicked Gensler out, and we will kick out anyone who follows in his footsteps," in a clear indication of the new administration's desire to dismantle the harsh policies against cryptocurrencies.
He further stated that the Trump administration will prioritize removing all obstacles and legal restrictions that hinder innovation in the cryptocurrency market, noting that the so-called "Bottleneck Operation 2.0" has ended for good.
Vance warned that the lack of clarity in regulations could drive the cryptocurrency industry, valued globally at around $3 trillion, to leave the United States. He confirmed that about 50 million Americans currently own digital assets, with expectations of this number doubling in the coming years, highlighting the importance of adopting stimulating rather than restrictive regulatory policies.
