The reason for choosing 8 March as International Women's Day dates back to 1911 First celebrated in Austria, Denmark, Germany and Switzerland on 19 March, It was then decided to set 8 March in 1913. International Women's Day was first observed on 8 March 1909 in America and was known as National Women's Day in the United States of America.
International Women's Day aims at many goals, most notably, reminding the world of the strong and influential role of women in societies, celebrating women's achievements, supporting and encouraging gender equality, and paying attention to women's issues.
The idea of a Women's Day came when a woman named Clara Zitkin, leader of the Social Democratic Party of Germany, introduced the idea of International Women's Day, in 1910, and suggested that each country celebrate women on one day each year to press for their demands, and more than 100 women from 17 countries agreed to propose it and formed the Division for the Advancement of Women.
