Standard Chartered Appoints Phil Rivett to Remuneration Committee

Standard Chartered PLC has approved the appointment of Phil Rivett as a member of its Remuneration Committee, effective 1 January 2026. The move reflects the bank’s continued focus on strengthening governance and oversight at board level.

Rivett brings extensive experience in financial services, audit, and corporate governance to the role.

He has served as Senior Independent Director of Standard Chartered since May 2025 and has more than three decades of experience with PwC, where he was a partner for over 30 years. During his time at the firm, Rivett led major financial services client relationships and held several senior global leadership positions.

His professional background includes significant international exposure, particularly across Asia and the Middle East. Throughout his career, Rivett has played an active role in shaping best practices in governance, risk management, and financial reporting within the financial services industry. ذ In addition to his responsibilities at Standard Chartered, Rivett currently serves as an independent non-executive director at Nationwide Building Society, where he also chairs the Audit Committee.

His experience in overseeing audit and remuneration matters is expected to add further depth to the committee’s work.

Standard Chartered said the appointment reinforces the board’s commitment to maintaining strong governance standards and ensuring that executive remuneration structures remain aligned with the bank’s long-term strategy, performance, and stakeholder interests.

With Rivett’s appointment, the Remuneration Committee will benefit from his deep understanding of regulatory environments, financial controls, and international banking operations, supporting the group as it continues to operate across diverse global markets.
