Toyota Motor Corp (TYO:7203) said on Monday its global sales in September rose 3.1% from a year earlier, marking the ninth consecutive month of year-on-year gains.
Global sales for the month, including Lexus brand, rose to 879,314 vehicles, on the back of strong overseas demand for hybrid and sport utility models.
U.S. sales jumped 14%, offsetting weaker results in Asia, where sales slipped 1% in China and 5% in Japan. For the January-September period, Toyota sold 7.8 million vehicles worldwide, up 5% from a year earlier,
Toyota’s global production rose 11% in September from a year earlier to 918,146 vehicles, marking the fourth straight month of growth.
